Future Antiproton Experiments at Fermilab
نویسنده
چکیده
Fermilab operates the world’s most intense antiproton source. Newly proposed experiments can use those antiprotons either parasitically during Tevatron Collider running or after the Tevatron Collider finishes in about 2010. In particular, the annihilation of 8 GeV antiprotons might make the world’s most intense source of tagged D mesons, and thus the best near-term opportunity to study charm mixing and, via CP violation, to search for new physics; a Penning trap and atom interferometer could be used to measure for the first time the gravitational force on antimatter.

Physics with Ultralow-Energy Antiprotons
In this report I will describe the current status of the antiproton decelerator (AD) facility at CERN, and highlight the physics program with ultralow-energy antiproton at this installation. I then will comment on future possibilities provided higher-intensity antiproton beams become available at Fermilab, and review possibilities for initial experiments using direct degrading of high-energy an...
متن کاملProposed New Antiproton Experiments at Fermilab
Fermilab operates the world’s most intense source of antiprotons. Recently various experiments have been proposed that can use those antiprotons either parasitically during Tevatron Collider running or after the Tevatron Collider finishes in about 2010. We discuss the physics goals and prospects of the proposed experiments.
متن کاملSearching for Antiproton Decay at the Fermilab Antiproton Accumulator
This paper describes an experimental search for antiproton decay at the Fermilab Antiproton Accumulator. The E868 (APEX) experimental setup is described. The APEX data is expected to be sensitive to antiproton decay if the antiproton lifetimes is less than a few times 100 000 years.
متن کاملSearch for muonic decays of the antiproton at the Fermilab Antiproton Accumulator 1
A search for antiproton decay has been made at the Fermilab Antiproton Accumulator. Limits are placed on six antiproton decay modes which contain a final-state muon.
متن کاملA New Experiment to Study Hyperon Cp Violation and the Charmonium System∗
Fermilab operates the world’s most intense antiproton source, now exclusively dedicated to serving the needs of the Tevatron Collider. The anticipated 2009 shutdown of the Tevatron presents the opportunity for a world-leading lowand medium-energy antiproton program. We summarize the status of the Fermilab antiproton facility and review physics topics for which a future experiment could make the...
